The experience

From Marsa Alam the drive to Cairo is long enough that a same-day return leaves very little time at the sites. Two days with a hotel night in the city fixes that, and the difference is mostly time standing in front of things rather than walking past them.

Day one is the Giza plateau: the three pyramids, the Sphinx and the panoramic viewpoint. Day two is the Egyptian Museum with your guide and, as the day allows, Islamic Cairo.
