The experience

Port Ghalib sits on the marina just north of Marsa Alam airport, and the road inland from there runs through open desert before dropping to the Nile at Aswan.

The day takes in the High Dam, the unfinished obelisk in its quarry, and the temple of Isis at Philae — moved stone by stone to Agilkia Island when the dam raised the water, and reached by boat.

A long road day with an early start. Entrance fees are collected locally and are not part of the online price.
