The experience

Wadi El Gemal — the Valley of the Camels — is a protected area covering both a stretch of undeveloped coast and the dry valleys inland. The jeep route goes into the valley itself rather than stopping at the shore.

The day covers the wadi floor with its acacia trees, the mangrove along the coast and the low mountains inland, with a guide explaining what lives in a landscape that looks empty at first glance. A park entry fee is collected at the gate in cash.
