The experience

Marsa Mubarak is a shallow bay whose seabed carries seagrass rather than coral. That meadow feeds green turtles, which are seen on most trips, and occasionally a dugong — a large, shy marine mammal that grazes the same beds.

The snorkelling is gentle: shallow water, very little current, and a guide in the water pointing out where the animals are working. Equipment is provided. Dugongs are wild and rare; the trip is built around the bay and its turtles, and a dugong is a bonus.
