The experience

El Quseir is one of the closer coastal towns to Luxor, and the road inland crosses desert before reaching the Nile valley — the change in landscape is abrupt and part of the day.

On the west bank you visit tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the terraced temple of Hatshepsut cut into the cliff at Deir el-Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon standing alone in the fields. The east bank temples follow as the day allows.

Entrance fees are collected locally and are not part of the online price. Some tombs carry separate tickets bought on the day.
