The experience

From El Quseir the drive south runs along open coast to the Wadi El Gemal boundary, where a protected stretch of shoreline meets the dry valleys inland.

The jeep route goes into the wadi itself: acacia on the valley floor, mangrove along the shore and low mountains further in, with a guide covering the wildlife and the Ababda communities who have used this landscape for generations. A park entry fee is collected at the gate in cash.
