The experience

Wadi El Gemal covers a stretch of coast and the dry valleys behind it — 'the Valley of the Camels'. Inside the park boundary the shoreline is undeveloped, which is unusual on this coast and is the point of going.

The day combines the protected beach and its reef with the landscape behind it: acacia-dotted wadi floor, mangrove along the shore, and the low mountains inland. Snorkelling is from the beach where conditions allow.

This is a long road day from Hurghada with an early start. A national park entry fee is collected at the gate in cash and is not part of the online price.
